Tasting Notes
Kekfrankos is known as Blaufrankisch in Austria and Germany, it was the main grape variety of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Nowadays it is still the most widely planted red grape variety in Szekszÿrd wine region, and also in Hungary. It is the perfect variety to work with as it is not sensitive and produces usually high yields. As we had a strict yield control of 1 kg grapes/vine, our Kekfrankos resulted in a full-bodied, complex wine. We aged it in Hungarian oak barrel for 18 months. It has a wonderful ruby colour and its smell reminds us of ripe sour cherry.
