Owned since the 1920s by the Abbona family, Marchesi di Barolo is a historic wine producer situated in the village of Barolo. Founded in the early 1800s by Giulia Colbert and Carlo Tancredi Falletti – the Marchesi di Barolo – it was the first winery to vinify Nebbiolo in a dry style. This is a very rare bottle of Barbaresco from the 1967 vintage, a year marked by the first public release of Sassicaia.
Appellation
Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
Tasting Notes
Classic, earthy, truffle-scented Barolo. Healthy medium-deep color, still abundantly red, with plenty of weight to the lushly textured palate.
Pairing
Goes wonderfully well with lamb dishes.
